Since 1963, immigrants from all over the world have trusted the Esperanza Center to help them navigate life in a new country. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide services related to education, health care, immigration legal matters, family reunification, anti-trafficking, and general community support to thousands of immigrants each year.

As the largest grassroots immigrant advocacy organization in the Mid-Atlantic region, CASA has over 36 years of experience organizing over 115,000 lifetime immigrant, Latino, and working class members. Founded in 1986, our model focuses on blending human services, community organizing, and strategic campaigns in order to serve the full spectrum of the needs, dreams, and aspirations of our members. CASA has come a long way from the church basement it started in. CASA was established by activists opposing U.S. interference in Latin America and the funding of military and paramilitary assaults on the communities of Central America. As the US continued to invest in the destabilization of Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador in particular, refugees began flooding into the DC region escaping torture and death. Since those humble beginnings, CASA has grown, lifted by waves of activism led by day laborers and domestic workers, students and parents, co-conspirators for justice in labor, faith, and civil rights organizations.

The mission of the Latino Racial Justice Circle is to educate and inspire people of all faith traditions. Working together, we will recognize and then act to eliminate systemic racial injustice and everyday incidents of bias and discrimination toward the Latino community. The Circle is committed to healing the wounds of racism by seeking to understand and respect one another. The Circle also strives to change human behavior that we might change the human heart.

El objetivo del Círculo de Justicia Racial Latina es educarles e inspirarles a personas de todas las tradiciones religiosas. Trabajando juntos, reconoceremos y entonces tomaremos acciones para eliminar la injusticia racial sistémica y los incidentes cotidianos de prejuicio y discriminación contra la comunidad latina. Buscando el entendimiento y respeto mutuo, el Círculo se compromete a curar las heridas hechas por el racismo. El Círculo también lucha por cambiar el comportamiento humano para poder cambiar el corazón humano.
