Story Summary: José tells a story about Joselin, a girl who was born in Ecuador and was left with her aunt until the age of five (5) as her parents immigrated to the United States. When her parents came back to bring her over, she grew up with a new brother and adjusting to grade school in America. She was a fantastic student and in her second to last year of high school, she dreamed of becoming a nurse. The dream came to a bitter halt as she found out that she was undocumented and it would just be difficult to apply to university. She graduated high school and attended community college and pursued her secondary goals of becoming a nursing assistant, though those plans also came to a halt as she needed a social security number to continue her internships. Later on, Obama passed DACA which allowed Joselin to attend the University of Maryland and pursue her educational and career goals. José tells us she continues to fight for the rights of DACA recipients as they become threatened under various government administrations.

Resumen de la historia: José cuenta una historia sobre Joselin, una niña que nació en Ecuador y se quedó con su tía hasta los cinco (5) años cuando sus padres emigraron a los Estados Unidos. Cuando sus padres regresaron para traerla, ella creció con un nuevo hermano y se adaptó a la escuela primaria en Estados Unidos. Era una estudiante fantástica y en su penúltimo año de secundaria, soñaba con ser enfermera. El sueño se detuvo amargamente cuando descubrió que era indocumentada y que sería difícil postularse para la universidad. Se graduó de la escuela secundaria y asistió a la universidad comunitaria y persiguió sus objetivos secundarios de convertirse en asistente de enfermería, aunque esos planes también se detuvieron porque necesitaba un número de seguro social para continuar con sus pasantías.
